Insurance and Good Faith Estimate

  • I am currently not taking insurance and am self-pay only, however, I do offer a sliding scale rate for a select number of spots depending on availability.  Please contact me for availability. My self-pay rates are listed under the Fees section. I additional offer a monthly superbill invoice for those who wish to submit to their insurance carriers for Out-of-Network (OON) reimbursement, which can vary from plan to plan. I recommend contacting your individual insurance carrier to find out more about your OON benefits, specifically for “outpatient mental health services.”  I cannot guarantee these will be reimbursed by your provider.
  • Many people forego insurance for psychotherapy because insurances require documentation of a mental health diagnosis from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-V-TR). This then becomes a part of your permanent health care record and the insurance company has access to confidential information. I cannot guarantee your privacy or the way your information is used by your insurance company.
  • ePassport: New legislation has allowed most states to come to an agreement known as PsyPact. In addition to an active FL psychology license, I currently possess an active PsyPact license and therefore am able to provide self-pay telehealth services across state lines to any participating PsyPact state. Currently there are 42 states participating in PsyPact – to learn if your state is a participating state, please look at this website, http://psypact.gov/mpage/psypactmap .

What to Expect At Your Visit

  • 1
    Schedule a free-15 minute consultation
I start with each potential client by conducting a free 15-minute phone consultation where I can learn more about what services you are interested in and answer questions. Should you be interested in psychotherapy, I will ask about your therapeutic goals and you can learn more about my treatment and interpersonal style. Success in therapy is contingent on a strong relationship between client and therapist; if we collectively agree that our styles match, we move on to scheduling our first intake session.

    Schedule your first visit
For psychotherapy needs, our first session consists of an in-depth history review as well as identifying current experiences of stress. Subsequent sessions will focus on clear identification of therapy goals, exploration of barriers to achieving your goals, development of coping skills, such as interpersonal effectiveness skills and emotion regulation skills, and frequent monitoring of progress toward goal achievement. I prefer clients who are open to learning and willing to engage in emotional work to make progress in their health and well-being.

For psychological assessment, we will discuss reason for assessment, appropriate telehealth equipment needs to create a successful test environment, what to expect from the testing process, complete an initial intake evaluation, and set up a subsequent testing appointment.
  • 3
    Prepare for your first session
After we have our initial consultation phone call and schedule our first intake session, you will receive an email for me with several documents that will help us better understand your needs, explain psychological services in detail, and obtain your insurance and payment methods. Don’t worry, we will review these documents together when we meet, but the insurance and payment documentation is required before our first session in order to make sure that there are no unforeseen barriers to our work together. Once you have submitted the paperwork, there is nothing else for you to do to prepare for your first session. I will direct the intake and it will largely be focused on getting a in-depth history and establishing an initial treatment plan for our work together.

    Receive your treatment plan
Combining physical and mental strategies to create an improved lifestyle using practices based in evidence and demonstrated to be effective in reducing symptoms such as stress, anxiety, and depression, and improving other areas of life, such as sleep, relationships, and quality of life. We will discuss frequency and duration of treatment in our treatment plan development. I typically suggest weekly, 45-minute sessions, and generally note that duration of therapy is unique to the individual and the conditions we are addressing, but to expect anywhere from 12-48 sessions. We will constantly be reviewing your goals and progress and can change this dynamic plan anytime it is needed.

Keep showing up for the work
Success in psychotherapy is predicted by multiple factors, but the most important factor is persistence and participation, combined with the relationship between you and your psychologist, and the use of evidence-based therapies. Our time together is protected and safe, so keep showing up, and I will meet you where you are. My goal is to teach you to become your own therapist, and when you are ready, we will end our psychotherapy, knowing you are always able to reconnect at any time in your life.

Mental health and wellness are woven together. Taking the first step in asking for help is often the most difficult step to take.
